Bjørklund – the Original Cheese Slicer

The Norwegian cheese slicer, invented by Thor Bjørklund, has for generations been a part of everyday moments at the breakfast and lunch table. For a period, we had the pleasure of including the cheese slicer in our own cutlery series – side by side with our classics.

Although we no longer produce cheese slicers ourselves, we want to carry on the tradition. That’s why you’ll find Bjørklund’s original cheese slicer with us – a small piece of Norwegian design history that makes the joy of cheese even greater.

Bjørklund Cheese Slicer – Norwegian Craftsmanship at Its Finest

For nearly 100 years, the Bjørklund cheese slicer has been a regular guest at Norwegian breakfast tables. Invented in 1925 by cabinetmaker Thor Bjørklund in Lillehammer, it has grown to become one of Norway’s most famous and beloved kitchen tools. Today, the slicers are still produced in Gudbrandsdalen, with the same focus on precision, craftsmanship, and quality as always.

Hardanger Bestikk shares this passion for true craftsmanship. Since 1958, we have created cutlery made to last for generations. For decades, Hardanger Bestikk and Bjørklund have collaborated on cheese slicers – from classic series such as Ramona and Kristin, to today’s selection where we proudly offer Bjørklund’s original cheese slicer.

A true Bjørklund cheese slicer is not just a kitchen tool – it is a piece of Norwegian history and a faithful companion for both everyday life and special occasions.
