Choice of dessert utensils

Utensils used for dessert vary based on your personal preference; some prefer to use cake forks, others dessert spoons, or even smaller teaspoons if what they’re eating is of small size. As a general rule, cake forks are used as they are designed to make the dessert experience easier. The cake fork has broader tines at the outermost part, which provides a crisp and precise division of the cake slice.

Dessert spoons are better suited for desserts with a liquid consistency, and are also larger, longer, and deeper than regular teaspoons, allowing you to get a suitable amount of dessert in each mouthful. It simply optimizes the flavors and food experience. The spoons also work well for healthier everyday desserts like yogurt, berries, and muesli.

Our cake servers have a grip-friendly handle and fine serrations along the edge, providing a clean and straight cutting edge when you need to cut and serve cake. They are also designed with a thin blade to easily slide under desserts that easily break, yet sturdy enough to hold cakes with many layers. It’s simply a practical tool when you need to serve tempting and intact cake slices to your guests. Despite its name, the cake server is a versatile tool that can be used for so much more. Use it to serve pizza, sandwiches, or other tempting dishes and delicacies. Only your imagination sets the limits.

Choosing the right dessert cutlery

Dessert cutlery comes in a variety of shapes, styles, and designs, and it can be difficult to know what to consider when choosing dessert cutlery.

🖤 Should the dessert cutlery match the rest of the cutlery? It doesn’t necessarily have to be either/or. Perhaps you want the dessert spoons to match, while the cake server and cake forks can stand out a bit? Mix and match your favorites to add a personal touch to your table setting.

🖤 What size is right for you when it comes to dessert cutlery? As with eating utensils, this may in some cases be related to the size of your dinnerware.

🖤 The stainless steel quality of the dessert cutlery. It’s incredibly nice to throw all the cutlery into the dishwasher after the party is over, rather than bending over the sink. We recommend looking for stainless steel quality 18/8 or 18/10. In addition, the dessert cutlery should be highly polished, especially between the tines of the forks, as this helps reduce the buildup of bacteria. Food residues easily stick to cutlery that is not adequately polished, especially between the tines, which contributes to the thriving of bacteria and other microorganisms.

Storage of your dessert cutlery

We have cutlery pouches for dessert cutlery – a smart and space-saving storage solution for your teaspoons, dessert spoons, and cake forks. Maybe you have special dessert pieces that only come out on big occasions? Save space in the drawer with our cutlery pouches.

Where should dessert cutlery be placed on the table?

If you’re setting a formal table, it’s important to place the dessert cutlery correctly. Dessert cutlery should be placed above the plate. Regardless of which option you choose, it is placed above the plate with the handle pointing towards the right side of the place setting. If both a spoon and a cake fork are required for dessert, the cake fork should be placed closest to the plate with the handle pointing towards the left side of the place setting. The spoon should be placed above the cake fork with the handle pointing towards the right side of the plate.

If you’re at a gathering, it’s very common for the cutlery to be by the dessert table and for the table not to be set as in more formal situations. In that case, we recommend that you provide both teaspoons, cake forks, and dessert spoons so that everyone gets what they prefer.

Dessert cutlery should provide an eye-catching and stylish feel to the table. Enjoy the cakes, desserts, and coffee with our dessert cutlery. Remember that we can offer dessert spoons, teaspoons, and cake forks both individually and in larger sets. See our entire selection here. Enjoy the sweets.
